Raquel decided to forego another winter and died in January 2012.
Raquel is getting on in age and has always had the dubious distinction of being the grabbiest alpaca I have ever met. She has been nick-named, ‘Raquel Belch’. She gets very annoyed with other alpacas being in her vicinity and doesn’t mind letting them know. She is multi-coloured – mostly white fleece with dark brown socks, tail and spots. Her fleece has a fairly soft handle for an alpaca of her age.
Raquel has never been pregnant on our farm despite many attempts. The previous farm where she resided had no luck with getting her pregnant either. She does have progeny from earlier in her life.
