Amelia is one of the original imports from Chile. She has now been retired from our breeding program after having two successive difficult births with the crias dying in both cases. One of her previous offspring – Aubrey- has sired a number of our animals. Amelia is a calm animal who enjoys the young ones. The crias usually find her willing to play and pronk with them and she is a wonderful aunt to them.
At this point, Amelia’s fleece is fairly coarse for an alpaca. It is still useable, however, for duvet battings or other things not worn next to the skin.
